Boat chartering
An increasingly popular group holiday, boat chartering provides an exciting yet relaxing holiday for small or large groups.
There are a plethora of companies that offer boat charter holidays, from canal boats to luxury yachts. Often with larger charters there will be the option to employ a full crew so that all the sailing, cooking and cleaning can be looked after by the professionals, leaving you to appreciate the luxuries of sailing.
What do I need?
In order to charter a boat without a skipper, you may be required to prove that you have successfully completed a Day Skippering Course.
Generally speaking, all technical equipment should be supplied so you should only need the usual clothing along with some wet weather options.
Advantages over buying
- You don't need to be a millionaire to afford one!
- With a small budget you can charter boats worth millions
- No Mooring costs or Maintenance to worry about
- The cost can be spread equally between all members of your group
Disadvantages over buying
- Unable to modify or adapt the boat to your personal taste.
- Limited to the models of boat available to charter.
- There may be restrictions on where you can sail.
