Boat Review
The Phantom has a hard chine hull with a deep 'V' bow and a flat run aft making the hull lightweight. This along with a large rig on a stayed mast means it has a high power to weight ratio, but is stable and responsive. There is no trapeze or spinnaker and the boat can carry a wide range of helm weights. The Phantom is a single-handler that is exciting to sail, manageable and at the same time affordable to build. The design has been modified from the original Phantom, which were built from wood with metal masts and Dacron sails. Now the Phantom has self-draining cockpits and carbon spars. The design now also allows freedom and sailors are able to develop cockpit sails and rig control systems, making the boat tailor made for them.
