Boat Review
The design of the Scow has evolved over 80 years, however is remains at a similar shape, size and appearance. There have been many variations of the Scow, but the ones being produced today are made from fibreglass, making them much lighter than the originally wooden models. Weight distribution is also improved and a new interior design allows the sailor to sit in an optimum position for windward sailing. Greater sailing power is achieved by the increased beam and the option of a jib. The new Scow has been developed to make it safer and sturdier which is suitable for children learning to sail, despite this the boat is still enthusiastically sailed by adults.
